The technology, explained simply
How Homvoya works
Homvoya extends your home internet connection to wherever you are. No software, no port forwarding, ready to go.
How it works
Two boxes. One home connection.
Both boxes connect, encrypted, to a relay server in the EU that joins them together. From there, your traffic goes out to the internet through your connection at home.

Home box

- 1
Plug the home box into your router
LAN cable into a free port, power on. That’s it at home.
- 2
Connect the travel box to Wi-Fi or a cable
At the hotel, holiday rental or café: connect it to the local network once.
- 3
Connect your laptop & phone – done
Your devices join the travel box’s Wi-Fi and use your home connection.
Delivered already paired and tested. Also works with DS-Lite and without a public IPv4 address.
Two boxes, already paired
The kit consists of two small routers. The home box connects to your router at home. The travel box comes with you. We ship both already paired and tested.
Why a relay server in the EU?
Many German connections don’t have their own public IPv4 address (DS-Lite, CGNAT), so they can’t be reached directly from outside. That’s why both boxes dial out to our relay server in the EU, which joins them – encrypted with WireGuard. The content of your traffic is not logged.
Which IP address do websites see?
Your traffic leaves for the internet through your connection at home. Websites and apps therefore see your home connection’s IP address – not the hotel’s and not the relay server’s.
Hotel Wi-Fi with a login page
Many hotels require you to log in on a web page. You do that once via the travel box’s interface. After that your devices connect as usual. The guide explains every step.
What determines the speed?
Three things: your home connection’s upload (usually the ceiling), the internet where you are, and the kit’s compact hardware. For email, banking, video calls and catch-up TV in normal quality, an upload from 10 Mbit/s is usually plenty.
The IP address is only one signal
Homvoya changes the IP address that websites see. But devices can also reveal their location in other ways: through Wi-Fi positioning, the time zone setting or GPS. Homvoya can’t – and isn’t meant to – hide those.
Safer on unfamiliar networks
On hotel and café Wi-Fi, all your traffic runs encrypted through the tunnel to your home. Others on the same Wi-Fi can’t read it.
Honestly
What Homvoya can – and can’t – do.
Homvoya can
- give every connected device your home IP
- keep the connection encrypted
- work without any software
- work with DS-Lite
Homvoya can’t
- be faster than your home connection’s upload
- work when your internet at home is down
- hide location signals such as Wi-Fi positioning, time zone or GPS
If you work from abroad, agree it with your employer. Working abroad can have tax and social-security consequences.
