We sell electrical and electronic equipment. Under § 18(4) of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), we inform private households about the disposal of old devices.

Separate collection of old devices

Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste (old devices) must not be disposed of with household waste. You must hand it in for separate collection, apart from unsorted municipal waste. This allows pollutants to be disposed of safely and valuable raw materials to be recycled.

Remove batteries and lamps first

Before handing in an old device at a collection point, you must remove any waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the device, as well as any lamps that can be removed without being destroyed. Hand in batteries and lamps at the collection points provided for them (e.g. in shops). This does not apply where old devices are separated for preparation for re-use.

Free return options

Owners of old devices from private households can return them free of charge:

  • Municipal collection points: at the collection points of the public waste management authorities, e.g. recycling centres. Your town or municipal administration can tell you where the nearest one is.
  • Take-back by retailers: retailers with a sales area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 m², and food retailers with a total sales area of at least 800 m² that offer electrical equipment several times a year or permanently, must take back old devices free of charge. For online retailers, all storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment count.
  • 1:1 take-back: if you buy a new device from such a retailer, they take back one old device of the same type that essentially fulfils the same functions free of charge. You can return it where the new device is delivered or close by; for online purchases, via a return option within a reasonable distance.
  • 0:1 take-back: such retailers also take back small old devices with no external dimension greater than 25 cm free of charge without a new purchase – up to three devices per type.

Our take-back options

We offer the following free return options for old devices:

  • TODO: return with a free shipping label
  • TODO: drop-off at municipal collection points

Please contact us beforehand by email at support@homvoya.com so that we can tell you the details of the return.

Delete personal data

Old devices often contain personal data. You are responsible for deleting this data before returning the device.

The boxes of the Homvoya Kit store, for example, Wi-Fi credentials and connection keys. Reset the boxes to factory settings before returning them. TODO: add reset instructions from the manufacturer's manual or refer to the quick-start guide.

Meaning of the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol means that the device must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of its life but must be collected separately. The black bar beneath the bin indicates that the device was placed on the market after 13 August 2005.

Re-use and recycling

By returning old devices separately, you help ensure that they are re-used, recycled or otherwise recovered. This saves resources and keeps pollutants out of the environment.

WEEE registration number

We are registered with the German national register for waste electrical equipment (stiftung ear). WEEE reg. no.: DE TODO
